}Extracranial metastases from glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) are rare. We report a case of osseous metastases from GBM diagnosed by F-NaF PET/CT. A 30-year-old man with a history of GBM presented with bone pain and underwent F-NaF PET/CT for further evaluation. On PET/CT, intense uptake in 2 bone lesions was noted. Histopathologic evaluation revealed osseous metastases from GBM. Although rare, bone metastases have to be considered in patients with axial tumors and atraumatic bone pain. F-NaF PET…

Extraneural metastases in glioblastoma patients: two cases with YKL-40-positive glioblastomas and a meta-analysis of the literature
- MedicineNeurosurgical Review
- 2015
Two YKL-40-positive GBM patients with extra-CNS (central nervous system) metastases are described and a meta-analysis of 94 cases supports the idea that prolonged survival of G BM patients increases the probability of GBM cells shedding to lymphatic and hematic system.

Recently employed PET tracers designed for the non-routine investigation of specific aspects of HGG metabolism, including hypoxia, neoangiogenesis, expression of integrins and stem cell markers, are reviewed.
