A Gram-staining-negative, strictly aerobic, rod-shaped bacterium, designated CBA3202(T), was isolated from seashore sand on Jeju Island, Republic of Korea. Based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain CBA3202(T) was allocated to the genus Gillisia (family Flavobacteriaceae) and was most closely related to the type strain of Gillisia mitskevichiae (99.0 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity). Optimal growth occurred at 25 °C and with 3 % NaCl. The only isoprenoid quinone was menaquinone-6…

Croceitalea litorea sp. nov., isolated from seashore sand.

Based on the phenotypic, genotypic and phylogenetic analyses, strain CBA3205T was considered to be a novel species belonging to the genus Croceitalea within the family Flavobacteriaceae, for which the name Croce italea litorea sp.

Citreibacter salsisoli gen. nov., sp. nov., a bacterium isolated from marine soil

From the distinct phylogenetic position and combination of genotypic and phenotypic characteristics, the strain is considered to represent a novel genus in the family Flavobacteriaceae, for which the name Citreibacter gen. nov is proposed.

Antarcticibacterium flavum gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from marine sediment.

On the basis of phylogenetic, physiological and chemotaxonomic properties, strain JB01H24T is considered to represent a novel species of a new genus within the family Flavobacteriaceae, for which the name Antarcticibacterium flavum gen. nov. is proposed.

Mesohalobacter halotolerans gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from a marine solar saltern.

The phenotypic and genotypic properties and phylogenetic inference indicated that WDS2C27T could be assigned to a novel species within a novel genus, for which the name Mesohalobacter halotolerans gen. nov., sp.

Aquimarina versatilis sp. nov., isolated from seashore sand, and emended description of the genus Aquimarina.

Based on phenotypic, genotypic and phylogenetic analyses, strain CBA3207T represents a novel species in the genus Aquimarina, for which the name Aquimarineversatilissp.

Introducing EzTaxon-e: a prokaryotic 16S rRNA gene sequence database with phylotypes that represent uncultured species.

It is concluded that the EzTaxon-e database provides a useful taxonomic backbone for the identification of cultured and uncultured prokaryotes and offers a valuable means of communication among microbiologists who routinely encounter taxonomically novel isolates.

Proposed minimal standards for describing new taxa of the family Flavobacteriaceae and emended description of the family.

In this paper minimal standards for the description of new genera and cultivable species in the family Flavobacteriaceae are proposed in accordance with Recommendation 30b of the Bacteriological Code
