Abstract Observations made during a cruise of the R/V Professor Logachev at the Snake Pit hydrothermal vent field provide a large database with which to examine the relationships between the geochemical characteristics of the hydrothermal sediments and the fauna that inhabit the area. Correlations between the nature and geochemistry of sediments, the distribution of hydrothermal and peripheral fauna and the hydrothermal activity are established. Three geochemical zones in the Snake Pit area are…

Meiofauna Community in Soft Sediments at TAG and Snake Pit Hydrothermal Vent Fields
The risk assessment of seafloor massive sulfide (SMS) mining on meiobenthic organisms, specifically on soft-sediment meiofauna, is impeded by a lack of knowledge on the biology and ecology of these
Megabenthic assemblage structure on three New Zealand seamounts: implications for seafloor massive sulfide mining
TLDR
Investigation of patterns of megafaunal distribution, assemblage structure and association with environmental vari- ables along the Kermadec volcanic arc in the New Zealand Exclu- sive Economic Zone suggests that inactive SMS areas may support faunal assemblages not found else- where within the region and would require suitable protection from mining activities.
Microbial laminites with coprolites from Upper Jurassic carbonate buildups (Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, Poland)
The Upper Oxfordian microbial-sponge agglutinated to open-frame reef complex of the Zegarowe Crags in the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland originated upon an elevation of the Late Jurassic stable northern
Community structure in Florida Escarpment seep and Snake Pit (Mid-Atlantic Ridge) vent mussel beds
TLDR
The taxonomic distinctiveness of the seep and vent mussel-bed macrofaunal communities supports the hypothesis that environmental and oceanographic barriers prevent most taxa from occupying both types of habitats.

Two New Caridean Shrimps (Bresiliidae) From a Hydrothermal Field on the Mid-atlantic Ridge
TLDR
Rimicaris, a new genus, and two new species of caridean shrimps, R. exoculata and R. chacei, are recorded in swarms from a thermally influenced site in the rift valley of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, indicating placement in the family Bresiliidae which is distributed in surface to mid-ocean depths.
Generation of low‐frequency waves at comet Halley
In this paper we investigate the extent to which the properties of the waves observed at comet Halley during the Giotto encounter can be understood within the context of linearized Vlasov theory. In
