The molecular mechanisms contributing to the development and progression of gingivobuccal complex (GBC) cancers-a sub-site of oral cancer, comprising the buccal mucosa, the gingivobuccal sulcus, the lower gingival region, and the retromolar trigone-remain poorly understood.
