A broad range of peroxides generated in subcellular compartments, including chloroplasts, are detoxified with peroxidases which are called as peroxiredoxins (Prx). The Prx are ubiquitously distributed in all organisms including bacteria, fungi, animals, and also in cyanobacteria and plants.
