The genital system of Caracollina lenticula (Michaud, 1831) has been studied in many Iberian populations, revealing a high morphological diversity affecting mainly the stimulatory apparatus. The general pattern (mucous gland plus «appendix» plus dart sac) appears sometimes modified due to the absence of the «appendix» or the mucous gland, or even both of them simultaneously; whenever the «appendix» is absent, the dart sac is also lacking. Observations carried out in serial sections show that…

An actualization to the knowledge of the geographical distribution of Caracollina (Caracollina) lenticula (Michaud, 1831) (Pulmonata: Helicoidea: Hygromiidae, Trissexodontinae) in the Iberian Peninsula

In this paper, the geographical distribution of Caracollina (Caracollina) lenticula (Michaud, 1831) in the Iberian Peninsula is studied. This species is reported for the first time in Ciudad Real.

NEW ANATOMICAL DATA ON THE IBERIAN ENDEMIC ATENIA QUADRASI (HIDALGO, 1885) (PULMONATA, HELICODONTIDAE)

Data suggests that the genus Atenia Gittenberger, 1968 should be placed in the Subfamily Lindholmiolinae Schileyko, 1978 within the Family Helicodontidae Kobelt, 1904 and the small range of this species and the threat to the habitat both suggest that A. quadrasi should be considered threatened.

Morphology and fine structure of the glands of the dart-sac complex in Helicoidea (Gastropoda, Stylommatophora)

A comparative analysis of glands of the dart-sac complex of Elona quimperiana, Trissexodon constrictus, Hygromia limbata, Cernuella aginnica, Helix aspersa and Cepaea nemoralis finds marked development of the organelles concerned with secretion, as well as the structural features of transporting cells.

A new land snail from the Quaternary of Mallorca (Balearic Islands, Western Mediterranean): Darderia bellverica n. gen., n. sp. (Gastropoda, Pulmonata, Helicodontidae)

A new genus and species of land snail is described from pre–human paleosoils at Bellver hill in the island of Mallorca, and this very rare species had been reported as a member of the Iberian–Maghribian Oestophora.

Revised Classification, Nomenclator and Typification of Gastropod and Monoplacophoran Families

A fully ranked, hierarchical classification summarizes recent advances in the phylogeny of the Gastropoda and Monoplacophora.

Molecular phylogeny of the Helicodontidae and Trissexodontidae (Gastropoda)

A molecular phylogeny of the Helicodontidae and Trissexodont families (Gastropoda) and their relationship with each other is presented.
