Genetic diversity of 14 isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. nicotianae (FON) the causal organism of tobacco wilt disease was studied using characteristics such as cultural, mol. and pathogenicity. All isolates differed in cultural characteristics. They were subjected to RAPD and were found to be varying. Further, these isolates were also subjected to RFLP of 740bp amplified product which when digested with Taq1 enzyme showed six restriction patterns indicating a high genetic diversity.
