Genetic diversity of Cannabis sativa germplasm based on RAPD markers

title={Genetic diversity of Cannabis sativa germplasm based on RAPD markers},
author={Valerio Faeti and Giuseppe Mandolino and Paolo Ranalli},
  journal={Plant Breeding},
Random amplified polymorphic DN A (RAPD) markers were generated from 13 cultivars and accessions of Cannabis sativa L. Approximately 200 fragments generated by 10 primers of arbitrary sequence were used to assess the level of DNA variation. Statistical analysis was performed using the Dice coefficient of similarity and principal coordinate analysis. The grouping of the accessions according to the cluster analysis was in good agreement with their origin and lines with common ancestors were…

Genetic diversity and phylogenetic relationships among accessions of hop, Humulus lupulus, as determined by amplified fragment length polymorphism fingerprinting compared with pedigree data.

Hip fingerprinting using amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs) is shown to be suitable for assessing the genetic variability in hop germplasm and are useful for describing the genetic relationships among cultivars and accessions, which allows phylogenetic questions to be addressed.

Differentiation between fiber and drug types of hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) from a collection of wild and domesticated accessions

Accessions of wild and domesticated hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) originating from Colombia, Mexico, California, Bolivia, Thailand, Afghanistan, Serbia, Hungary, south Africa and different regions of

Comparison of Hemp Varieties Using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA Markers

The correlations among the molecular data and the genetic structure of the different cultivars and the consequences in relation to variety discrimination in hemp are discussed.

Genetic Variation in Hemp and Marijuana (Cannabis sativa L.) According to Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphisms *

Genetic variation was surveyed in three populations of fiber hemp and a potent cultivar of marijuana using AFLP markers, which have practical utility for establishing conspiracy in the cultivation and distribution of marijuana, and identifying geographic sources of seized drugs.

Analysis of the genetic diversity of Chinese native Cannabis sativa cultivars by using ISSR and chromosome markers.

The results revealed that all of the native cultivars showed considerable genetic diversity; moreover, the genetic distances show a geographical distribution, with a small amount of regional hybridity.

A polytypic concept of Cannabis is proposed, which recognizes three species, C. indica and C. ruderalis, and seven putative taxa, and none of the previous taxonomic concepts that were tested adequately circumscribe the sativa and indica gene pools.

Assessment of Genetic Diversity and Population Structure in Iranian Cannabis Germplasm

This investigation has explored the use of Genotyping-By-Sequencing (GBS) in Iranian cannabis and found some strong signal to define some locations as population according to fineSTRUCTURE analyses, however, single nucleotide variant analysis uncovered a relatively moderate level of variation among Iranian cannabis.

Identification of DNA markers linked to the male sex in dioecious hemp (Cannabis sativa L.)

A 400-bp RAPD marker generated by a primer of random decamer sequence has been found associated with the male sex phenotype in 14 dioecious cultivars and accessions of hemp and is suitable for a precise, early and rapid identification of male plants during breeding programs of dIOecious and monoecious hemp.

Occurrence and frequency of putatively Y chromosome linked DNA markers in Cannabis sativa L.

The fact that the association between these markers and the staminate phenotype is found when examining male plants of distantly related varieties, and that such linkage is never broken when different progenies are examined, strongly supports the hypothesis that the markers found are physically located on the Y chromosome, in a region excluded from recombination during meiosis.

Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA in Perennial Ryegrass: A Comparison of Bulk Samples vs. Individuals

The study illustrates the need to screen individuals to accurately evaluate the genotypic composition of a synthetic cultivar or heterogeneous population and the usefulness of random amplified polymorphic DNA in characteriz- ing two perennial ryegrass synthetic cultivars.

Some distance properties of latent root and vector methods used in multivariate analysis

SUMMARY This paper is concerned with the representation of a multivariate sample of size n as points P1, P2, ..., PI in a Euclidean space. The interpretation of the distance A(Pi, Pj) between the ith
