The classical BCR-ABL negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, and primary myelofibrosis are clonal hematopoietic disorders characterized by excessive production of terminally differentiated myeloid cells. In MPN patients, the disease can progress to secondary myelofibrosis or acute myeloid leukemia.
