Recent molecular studies have resurrected and radically revised the circumscription of the umbellifer tribe Oenantheae Dumort. to comprise species that share many ecological and morphological characters (Hardway & al., 2004). Its members usually grow in moist to wet habitats and some are even true aquatics. All have fascicled roots, glabrous leaves and stems, and many are characterized by once-pinnate leaves and globose to broadly-ovate corky fruits facilitating dispersal in water.
