The Crepidotaceae (Basidiomycetes: Agaricales) as conceived by Singer consists of five agaric and four cyphelloid genera, although many alternate classification schemes for these fungi exist. Phylogenetic relationships were investigated for the four most prevalent genera of the Crepidotaceae (Crepidotus, Simocybe, Melanomphalia, and Tubaria) in conjunction with representatives from each of the other families of darkspored agarics, by DNA sequencing.
