Radiation damping and quantum excitation in an electron storage ring with a laser-electron interaction region are analyzed. Two interesting regimes and their perspectives to the generation of intense x-rays and low-emittance electron beams are investigated. In the first regime, a high-average-power laser beam inside a high-finesse resonator intersects with the electron beam every pass to produce very intense, hard x-rays. Although the transverse laser cooling effect is still weak compared with…

Sources of the X‐rays Based on Compton Scattering

The principles of the intense X‐rays generation by laser beam scattering on a relativistic electron beam are described and description of facilities assigned to produce the X‐rays based on Compton

Laser-Electron Storage Ring

A compact laser-electron storage ring (LESR) is proposed for electron beam cooling or x-ray generation. The LESR uses an intense laser pulse stored in a high-finesse resonator to interact
