Electricity generation using a microbial fuel cell (MFC) was investigated with acetate as the fuel and Geobacter sulfurreducens as the biocatalyst on the anode electrode. The voltage and power density behaviors at various external resistances were observed, as were the coulombic efficiency and energy recovery behaviors at various acetate concentrations.
