The one-band Hubbard model at half filling on a truncated tetrahedron (C 12 ) and on the C 60 molecule is studied. Within the Hartree-Fock approximation, we find a magneticlike instability of the «Fermi sea» towards a spin-ordered phase for an intermediate value of the coupling (U/t) c ≃2.6. The ordered phase presents a spin arrangement similar to that of the classical Heisenberg model defined on the same clusters. We study the linear excitations around the Hartree-Fock ground states using the…

MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF HUBBARD CLUSTERS : NONCOLLINEAR SPINS IN N-ATOM CLUSTERS
The ground-state magnetic properties of clusters with N-atomic sites are studied by solving the single-band Hubbard Hamiltonian in the unrestricted Hartree–Fock approximation. Three-dimensional
Electron correlations in a C20 fullerene cluster
Abstract. The ground-state properties of C20 fullerene clusters are determined in the framework of the Hubbard model by using lattice density-functional theory (LDFT) and scaling approximations to
An analysis of the magnetic ground state in molecules
We analyse the antiferromagnetic ground state of various fullerenes, namely cluster isomers, in the classical limit of the effective Heisenberg Hamiltonian. The valley structures of the frustrated
Polyradical character and spin frustration in fullerene molecules: an ab initio non-collinear Hartree-Fock study.
TLDR
This work considers ab initio non-collinear Hartree-Fock (HF) solutions for representative fullerene systems: the bowl, cage, ring, and pentagon isomers of C20, and the larger C30, C36, C60, C70, and C84 fullerenes.
Noncollinear Magnetic Structures in Small Compact Clusters
We investigate the properties of complex magnetic structures in small compact clusters including noncollinear arrangements of local magnetic moments, spin density waves and charge density waves. The
The antiferromagnetic $S=1/2$ Heisenberg model on the C$_{60}$ fullerene geometry
We solve the quantum-mechanical antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model with spins positioned on vertices of the truncated icosahedron using the density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG). This describes

Magnetic properties of individual carbon clusters, clusters inside fullerenes and graphitic nanoribbons
Electronic and magnetic properties of all sp2carbon species with N = 10–14 atoms (non-fullerenes clusters, rings, linear chains, zigzag and armchair ribbons) are investigated using many-body schemes.
Magnetic properties of C60 polymers.
TLDR
The results suggest a mechanism involving an interplay between structural defects and sp(3) hybridization to be responsible for the origin of this magnetism.
