AbstractIn this chapter, we present two applications in information fusion inorder to evaluate the generalized proportional conflict redistribution rulepresented in the chapter [5]. Most of the time the combination rules areevaluated only on simple examples. We study here different combinationrules and compare them in terms of decision on real data. Indeed, in realapplications, we need a reliable decision and it is the final results thatmatter. Two applications are presented here: a fusion of…

Unification of Fusion Theories, Rules, Filters, Image Fusion and Target Tracking Methods (UFT)
TLDR
The unification scenario presented herein, which is now in an incipient form, should periodically be updated incorporating new discoveries from the fusion and engineering research.
Advances and Applications of DSmT for Information Fusion. Collected Works. Volume 4
The fourth volume on Advances and Applications of Dezert-Smarandache Theory (DSmT) for information fusion collects theoretical and applied contributions of researchers working in different fields of
A new generalization of the proportional conflict redistribution rule stable in terms of decision
TLDR
This chapter shows that a fine proportional conflict redistribution rule must be preferred for the combination in the belief function theory.
An In-Depth Look at Quantitative Information Fusion Rules
TLDR
The author proposes a Unification of Fusion Theories extending the power and hyper-power sets from previous theories to a Boolean algebra obtained by the closures of the frame of discernment under union, intersection, and complement of sets.
Analysis and improvement for Proportional Conflict Redistribution rules
TLDR
The six PCR rules (PCR1-PCR6) and improved PCR rule are analyzed and compared through numerical examples, and the results show that the improved rule is effective.
Utilizing classifier conflict for sensor management and user interaction
TLDR
The classification model that is used in the fusion problem and two different types of conflict are discussed and a (slightly) altered PCR6 rule is proposed, dubbed PCR6a to enable operators to exert constraints on singletons.
Implementing general belief function framework with a practical codification for low complexity
TLDR
A new practical codification of the elements of the Venn diagram is proposed in order to easily manipulate the focal elements and to provide practical codes of a general belief function framework for the researchers and users needing the belief function theory.
Fusion of qualitative beliefs using DSmT
TLDR
A new arithmetic on linguistic labels is proposed which allows a direct extension of classical DSm fusion rule or DSm Hybrid rules and an approximate qualitative PCR5 rule is also proposed jointly with a Qualitative Average Operator.
Multi-sensor Data Fusion within the Belief Functions Framework
TLDR
A layered architecture to process raw data into abstract situations and activities and data fusion tools using the belief functions theory are introduced as a general framework to provide a first level of abstraction from raw data given by sensors to a more complex context model.
Experiences in managing uncertainty and ignorance in a lightly instrumented smart home
TLDR
An inter‐disciplinary experience in building a context‐aware system that provides adapted functionalities to inhabitants of a smart home and describes the system architecture, focusing on the management of uncertainty.

TLDR
A comparative study of information fusion methods for sonar images classification using the weighted vote approach, or coming from the possibility theory and evidence theory, have been employed.
Human expert fusion for image classification
TLDR
Different models in order to fuse the informations given by two or more experts are proposed in the context of the Dempster-Shafer theory and the Dezert-Smarandache Theory and the possible decisions with these models are studied.
Information fusion based on new proportional conflict redistribution rules
TLDR
This paper proposes anew family of fusion rules for the combination of uncertainty and conflicting information, based on new Proportional Conflict Redistributions (PCR) allowing us to deal with highly conflicting sources for static and dynamic fusion applications.
FUSION FOR IMAGE CLASSIFICATION
Abstract: In image classification, merging the opinion of several human experts is very important for different tasks such as the evaluation or the training . Indeed, the ground truth is rarely known
DSmT: A new paradigm shift for information fusion
TLDR
The theory of plausible and paradoxical reasoning, known as DSmT (Dezert-Smarandache Theory) in literature, developed for dealing with imprecise, uncertain and potentially highly conflicting sources of information.
A new generalization of the proportional conflict redistribution rule stable in terms of decision
TLDR
This chapter shows that a fine proportional conflict redistribution rule must be preferred for the combination in the belief function theory.
Representation and combination of uncertainty with belief functions and possibility measures
TLDR
The framework of belief functions in terms of expressive power for knowledge representation is examined and it is indicated that combination rules issued from fuzzy set and possibility theory look more flexible than Dempster rule because many variants exist, and their numerical stability seems to be better.
A mathematical theory of evidence
TLDR
This book develops an alternative to the additive set functions and the rule of conditioning of the Bayesian theory: set functions that need only be what Choquet called "monotone of order of infinity." and Dempster's rule for combining such set functions.
The Generalized Pignistic Transformation
TLDR
This paper presents in detail the generalized pignistic transformation succinctly developed in the Dezert-Smarandache Theory (DSmT) framework as a tool for decision process and provides the complete result obtained by the GPT and its validation drawn from the probability theory.
