Generalized multichannel optical theorem: Coherent control of the total scattering cross section
@inproceedings{Adrien2022GeneralizedMO, title={Generalized multichannel optical theorem: Coherent control of the total scattering cross section}, author={Devolder Adrien and V. TscherbulTimur and Brumer Paul}, year={2022} }
The optical theorem is a fundamental aspect of quantum scattering theory. Here, we generalize this theorem to the case where the incident scattering state is a superposition of internal states of the collision partners, introducing additional interference contributions and, e.g., providing a route to control the total integral cross section. As in its standard form, forward scattering plays an essential role in the generalized optical theorem, but with interference terms being related to the…

Quantum mechanical double slit for molecular scattering
- PhysicsScience
- 2021
A quantum mechanical double-slit interferometer is constructed by rovibrationally exciting molecular deuterium in a biaxial state using Stark-induced adiabatic Raman passage, where v and j represent the vibrational and rotational quantum numbers, respectively.
Near-threshold scaling of resonant inelastic collisions at ultralow temperatures
- PhysicsPhysical Review A
- 2022
We show that the cross sections for a broad range of resonant inelastic processes accompanied by excitation exchange (such as spin-exchange, Förster resonant, or angular momentum exchange) exhibit an…
Towards chemistry at absolute zero
- ChemistryNature Reviews Chemistry
- 2021
The prospect of cooling matter down to temperatures that are close to absolute zero raises intriguing questions about how chemical reactivity changes under these extreme conditions. Although some…
Precision test of statistical dynamics with state-to-state ultracold chemistry.
- PhysicsNature
- 2021
The full product state distribution for the reaction 2KRb → K2 + Rb2 is reported, showing an overall agreement with a state-counting model based on statistical theory, but also reveal several deviating state-pairs.

We show that quantum interference-based coherent control is a highly efficient tool for tuning ultracold molecular collision dynamics that is free from the limitations of commonly used methods that…
Direct observation of a Feshbach resonance by coincidence detection of ions and electrons in Penning ionization collisions
- PhysicsNature Communications
- 2020
The authors use ion-electron coincidence imaging method to explore collision dynamics and observe Feshbach resonance in the Penning ionization collision of argon and excited helium atoms, resulting in singly charged argon ion and ground state helium.

- PhysicsNew Journal of Physics
- 2019
We propose a new scalable platform for quantum computing (QC)—an array of optically trapped symmetric-top molecules (STMs) of the alkaline earth monomethoxide (MOCH3) family. Individual STMs form…
