Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) stimulates the mitogenesis of various cells and plays a key role in wound repair. Using in situ hybridization, we studied mRNA expressions of bFGF and one of its receptors, FGF receptor 1 (FGFR1), during wound repair of the rat retina after laser photocoagulation.
