A total of 1,921 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) were obtained from bloodstream trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma carassii, a parasite of economic importance due to its high prevalence in fish farms. Analysis of the data set allowed us to identify a trans-sialidase (TS)-like gene and three ESTs coding for putative mucin-like genes.
