The cross sections of the Ge-70(p,gamma)As-71 and Ge-76(p,n)As-76 reactions have been measured with the activation method in the Gamow window for the astrophysical p process. The experiments were carried out at the Van de Graaff and cyclotron accelerators of ATOMKI. The cross sections have been derived by measuring the decay gamma-radiation of the reaction products. The results are compared to the predictions of Hauser-Feshbach statistical model calculations using the code NON-SMOKER. Good…
Measurements of 160Dy (p, γ) at Energies Relevant for the Astrophysical γ Process
Rare information on photodisintegration reactions of nuclei with mass numbers A ≈ 160 at astrophysical conditions impedes our understanding of the origin of p-nuclei. Experimental determination of
An Approximation of Cross Sections of Channels of the 9Be(α, n) Reaction on the Basis of the Gamow Interaction Radius
Radiation transport of α-particles requires cross sections of inelastic interaction of α-particles with nuclei. At low energies the inelastic interactions are limited to the 9Be(α, n) reaction, whose
New experimental developments for s- and p-process research
Almost all of the heavy elements are produced via neutron-induced processes in a multitude of stellar production sites. The remaining minor part is produced via photon- and proton-induced reactions.
Systematics of the semimicroscopic proton-nucleus optical potential at low energies relevant for nuclear astrophysics
Background: Astrophysical models studying the origin of the neutron-deficient p nuclides require knowledge of the reaction rates of neutron, proton and α-proton photodisintegrations of pre-existing
First measurement of the helicity dependence for the γp → pπreaction
Abstract. The helicity dependence of the total cross-section and the invariant-mass distributions in the (pπ±) and (π+π-) final states for the γp → pπ+π- reaction have been measured for the first time
Differences between stellar and laboratory reaction cross sections
Nuclear reactions proceed differently in stellar plasmas than in the laboratory due to the thermal effects in the plasma. On one hand, a target nucleus is bombarded by projectiles distributed in
Microscopic calculation of proton capture reactions in the mass 60–80 region and its astrophysical implications
Microscopic optical potentials obtained by folding the DDM3Y interaction with the densities from the Relativistic Mean-Field approach have been utilized to evaluate S-factors of low-energy (p, γ)
The activation method for cross section measurements in nuclear astrophysics
Abstract. The primary aim of experimental nuclear astrophysics is to determine the rates of nuclear reactions taking place in stars in various astrophysical conditions. These reaction rates are an
The r-, p-, and νp-Process
The processes discussed in this review are three of the four nucleosynthesis processes involved in producing heavy nuclei beyond Fe (not counting the rp-process in X-ray bursts). Opposite to the
