Gaussian and Student's $t$ mixture vector autoregressive model

  title={Gaussian and Student's \$t\$ mixture vector autoregressive model},
  author={Savi Virolainen},
A new mixture vector autoressive model based on Gaussian and Student’s t distributions is introduced. The G-StMVAR model incorporates conditionally homoskedastic linear Gaussian vector autoregressions and conditionally heteroskedastic linear Student’s t vector autoregressions as its mixture components, and mixing weights that, for a pth order model, depend on the full distribution of the preceding p observations. Also a structural version of the model with time-varying B-matrix and…

A Mixture Autoregressive Model Based on Student's t-Distribution
A new mixture autoregressive model based on Student’s t–distribution is proposed. A key feature of our model is that the conditional t–distributions of the component models are based on
A Gaussian Mixture Autoregressive Model for Univariate Time Series
The Gaussian mixture autoregressive model studied in this article belongs to the family of mixture autoregressive models, but it differs from its previous alternatives in several advantageous ways. A

StMAR Toolbox: A MATLAB Toolbox for Student's t Mixture Autoregressive Models
This document provides an overview of the StMAR Toolbox, a MATLAB toolbox specifically designed for simulation, estimation, diagnostic, and forecasting of the Student’s t mixture autoregressive
New Introduction to Multiple Time Series Analysis
This reference work and graduate level textbook considers a wide range of models and methods for analyzing and forecasting multiple time series. The models covered include vector autoregressive,
Structural Vector Autoregressions With Nonnormal Residuals
In structural vector autoregressive (SVAR) modeling, sometimes the identifying restrictions are insufficient for a unique specification of all shocks. In this paper it is pointed out that specific
On the Conditional Distribution of the Multivariate t Distribution
ABSTRACT As alternatives to the normal distributions, t distributions are widely applied in robust analysis for data with outliers or heavy tails. The properties of the multivariate t distribution
State-Dependent Transmission of Monetary Policy in the Euro Area
In this paper, we estimate a logit mixture vector autoregressive (Logit-MVAR) model describing monetary policy transmission in the euro area over the period 1999–2015. MVARs allow us to differentiate
