We offer a derivation of the duality between the topological U(1) gauge theory on a Calabi-Yau 3-fold and the topological A-model on the same manifold. This duality was conjectured recently by Iqbal, Nekrasov, Okounkov, and Vafa. We deduce it from the S-duality of the IIB superstring. We also argue that the mirror version of this duality relates the topological B-model on a Calabi-Yau 3-fold and a topological sector of the Type IIA Little String Theory on the same manifold.
A Note on topological M5-branes and string-fivebrane duality
We derive the stability conditions for the M5-brane in topological M-theory using k-symmetry. The non-linearly self-dual 3-form on the world-volume is necessarily non-vanishing, as is the case also
Topological M-theory as unification of form theories of gravity
We introduce a notion of topological M-theory and argue that it provides a unification of form theories of gravity in various dimensions. Its classical solutions involve G_2 holonomy metrics on
Toward a nonperturbative topological string
We discuss three examples of nonperturbative phenomena in the topological string. First, we consider the computation of amplitudes in N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory using the B model topological
The automorphic NS 5-brane ( 2 . 0 )
Understanding the implications of SL(2,Z) S-duality for the hypermultiplet moduli space of type II string theories has led to much progress recently in uncovering D-instanton contributions. In this
Quantization of open-closed BCOV theory, I
This is the first in a series of papers which analyze the problem of quantizing the theory coupling Kodaira-Spencer gravity (or BCOV theory) on Calabi-Yau manifolds using the formalism for
The automorphic NS5-brane
Understanding the implications of SL(2, Z) S-duality for the hyper-multiplet moduli space of type II string theories has led to much progress recently in uncovering D-instanton contributions. In this
Quantization of Holomorphic Forms and $$\mathcal{N}$$ = 1 Supersymmetry on Special Manifolds
We study the quantization of a holomorphic two—form coupled to a Yang—Mills field on special manifolds in various dimensions, and we show that it yields twisted supersymmetric theories. For Kahler

S-duality and topological strings
In this paper we show how S-duality of type-IIB superstrings leads to an S-duality relating A- and B-model topological strings on the same Calabi-Yau as had been conjectured recently: D-instantons of
On The Partition Sum of The NS Five-Brane
We study the Type IIA NS ve-brane wrapped on a Calabi-Yau manifold X in a double-scaled decoupling limit. We calculate the euclidean partition function in the presence of a flat RR 3-form eld. The
D-branes and the noncommutative torus
We show that in certain superstring compactifications, gauge theories on noncommutative tori will naturally appear as D-brane world-volume theories. This gives strong evidence that they are
Kodaira-Spencer theory of gravity and exact results for quantum string amplitudes
We develop techniques to compute higher loop string amplitudes for twistedN=2 theories withĉ=3 (i.e. the critical case). An important ingredient is the discovery of an anomaly at every genus in
Special Quantum Field Theories¶in Eight and Other Dimensions
Abstract:We build nearly topological quantum field theories in various dimensions. We give special attention to the case of eight dimensions for which we first consider theories depending only on
Noncommutative Geometry and Matrix Theory: Compactification on Tori
We study toroidal compactification of Matrix theory, using ideas and results of noncommutative geometry. We generalize this to compactification on the noncommutative torus, explain the classification
Gromov–Witten theory and Donaldson–Thomas theory, I
We conjecture an equivalence between the Gromov–Witten theory of 3-folds and the holomorphic Chern–Simons theory of Donaldson and Thomas. For Calabi–Yau 3-folds, the equivalence is defined by the
Invasion of the giant gravitons from Anti-de Sitter space
It has been known for some time that the AdS/CFT correspondence predicts a limit on the number of single particle states propagating on the compact spherical component of the AdS × S geometry. The
