We derive the quantum energy-momentum tensor and the corresponding quantum equation of state for gauge field theory using the effective Lagrangian approach. The energy-momentum tensor has a term proportional to the space-time metric and provides a finite non-diverging contribution to the effective cosmological constant. This allows to investigate the influence of the gauge field theory vacuum on the evolution of Freidmann cosmology, inflation and primordial gravitational waves. The Type I-IV…

Energy Momentum Tensor of a Massless Scalar Quantum Field in a Robertson-Walker Universe
The renormalized stress tensor of a free quantum field in a curved space-time should be obtainable by some covariant procedure from the short-distance behavior of the corresponding operator products
Einstein Gravity as a Symmetry Breaking Effect in Quantum Field Theory
This article gives a pedagogical review of recent work in which the Einstein-Hilbert gravitational action is obtained as a symmetry-breaking effect in quantum field theory. Particular emphasis is
Induced gravity inflation in the standard model of particle physics
Abstract We are considering the cosmological consequences of an induced gravity theory coupled to the minimal standard model of particle physics. The non-minimal coupling parameter between gravity
On gauge invariance and vacuum polarization
This paper is based on the elementary remark that the extraction of gauge invariant results from a formally gauge invariant theory is ensured if one employs methods of solution that involve only
Non-Abelian Gauge Field Inflation
In [arXiv:1102.1513] we introduced an inflationary scenario, Non-Abelian Gauge Field Inflation or gauge-flation for short, in which slow-roll inflation is driven by non-Abelian gauge field minimally
From Heisenberg–Euler Lagrangian to the discovery of Chromomagnetic Gluon Condensation
I reexamine the phenomena of the chromomagnetic gluon condensation in Yang–Mills theory. The extension of the Heisenberg–Euler Lagrangian to the Yang–Mills theory allows to calculate the effective
Vacuum Polarization by a Source-Free Gauge Field
One-loop corrections due to vacuum polarization are studied for a Yang-Mills theory. The discussion is carried out in covariant gauges. In the special case of covariant-constant fields the one-loop
Inflationary cosmology and the late-time accelerated expansion of the universe in nonminimal Yang-Mills-F(R) gravity and nonminimal vector-F(R) gravity
We study inflationary cosmology and the late-time accelerated expansion of the universe in nonminimal Yang-Mills (YM) theory, in which the YM field couples to a function of the scalar curvature. It
Vacuum of the quantum Yang-Mills theory and magnetostatics☆
It is argued that since in asymptotically free Yang-Mills theories the quantum ground state is not controlled by perturbation theory, there is no a priori reason to believe that individual orbits
Mirror QCD and Cosmological Constant
An analog of Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD) sector known as mirror QCD (mQCD) can affect the cosmological evolution due to a non-trivial contribution to the Cosmological Constant analogous to that
