We consider extra dimensional gauge theories on an interval. We first review the derivation of the consistent boundary conditions (BC's) from the action principle. These BC's include choices that give rise to breaking of the gauge symmetries. The boundary conditions could be chosen to coincide with those commonly applied in orbifold theories, but there are many more possibilities. To investigate the nature of gauge symmetry breaking via BC's we calculate the elastic scattering amplitudes for…

We show that a five-dimensional Universal Extra Dimension model, compactified on a line segment, is consistently formulated even when the gauge symmetry is broken solely by non-zero Dirichlet…

We study five-dimensional Yang-Mills theories compactified on an S^1/Z_2 orbifold. The fundamental Lagrangian naturally includes brane kinetic terms at the orbifold fixed points which are induced by…

Higgsless Electroweak Symmetry Breaking in Warped Backgrounds: Constraints and Signatures

- Physics

We examine the phenomenology of a warped 5-dimensional model based on SU(2)L× SU(2)R× U(1)B−L model which implements electroweak symmetry breaking through boundary conditions, without the presence of…

Structure of corrections to electroweak interactions in Higgsless models

- Physics

Recently, Higgsless models of electroweak symmetry breaking have been proposed. Based on compactified five-dimensional gauge theories, these models achieve unitarity of electroweak boson…

Electroweak corrections and unitarity in linear moose models

We calculate the form of the corrections to the electroweak interactions in the class of Higgsless models which can be deconstructed to a chain of SU(2) gauge groups adjacent to a chain of U(1) gauge…

The S-parameter in holographic technicolor models

- Physics

We study the S parameter, considering especially its sign, in models of elec- troweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) in extra dimensions, with fermions localized near the UV brane. Such models are…

Unitarity from Decoupling Deconstruction

Recently there has been interest in electroweak models on a five dimensional interval that break the symmetry without a higgs boson. By warping the metric of the interval it may be possible to avoid…

The Standard Model has been experimentally tested to a remarkable precision. Some questions, however, have still found no solution within its framework, and physicists look for possible solutions in…

Renormalizable extra-dimensional models

Non-Abelian gauge theories may have continuum limits in more than four dimensions, supported by non-trivial ultra-violet fixed points. Moreover, such theories can be expected to be accessible to…
