We review some recent results on phenomenological approaches to strong interactions inspired in gauge/string duality. In particular, we discuss how such models lead to very good estimates for hadronic masses.

Hadron spectroscopy and structure from AdS/CFT

Abstract. The AdS/CFT correspondence between conformal field theory and string states in an extended space-time has provided new insights into not only hadron spectra, but also their light-front wave

Gravitational quasinormal modes of AdS black branes in d spacetime dimensions

The AdS/CFT duality has established a mapping between quantities in the bulk AdS black-hole physics and observables in a boundary finite-temperature field theory. Such a relationship appears to be

Electromagnetic quasinormal modes of rotating black strings and the AdS/CFT correspondence

A bstractWe investigate the quasinormal spectrum of electromagnetic perturbations of rotating black strings. Among the solutions of Einstein equations in the presence of a negative cosmological

From quasinormal modes of rotating black strings to hydrodynamics of a moving CFT plasma

A certain identification of points in a planar Schwarzschild-anti de Sitter (AdS) black hole generates a four-dimensional static black string. In turn, a rotating black string can be obtained from a

Two Forms of Proximal Physical Geometry. Axioms, Sewing Regions Together, Classes of Regions, Duality, and Parallel Fibre Bundles

This paper introduces two proximal forms of Lenzen physical geometry, namely, an \emph{axiomatized strongly proximal physical geometry} that is built on simplicial complexes with the dualities and

Electromagnetic quasinormal modes of rotating black strings and the AdS/CFT correspondence

We investigate the quasinormal spectrum of electromagnetic perturbations of rotating black strings. Among the solutions of Einstein equations in the presence of a negative cosmological constant there

The String dual of a confining four-dimensional gauge theory

We study N=1 gauge theories obtained by adding finite mass terms to N=4 Yang-Mills theory. The Maldacena dual is nonsingular: in each of the many vacua, there is an extended brane source, arising

String theory. Vol. 1: An introduction to the bosonic string

String Theory comprises two volumes which give a comprehensive and pedagogic account of the subject. Volume 1, first published in 1998, provides a thorough introduction to the bosonic string. The

SUPERSTRING THEORY

String theory.

The current “standard model” of particle physics—which is nearly 25 years old, has much experimental evidence in its favor and is comprised of six quarks, six leptons, four forces, and the as yet unobserved Higgs boson—contains internal indications that it, too, may be just another step along the path toward uncovering the truly fundamental degrees of freedom.
