Four cases of gastrointestinal perforation by chicken bones are presented. Variability in the clinical manifestations generally precludes a correct preoperative diagnosis of intraabdominal chicken bone abscess. However, in 2 patients, a diagnosis was possible with plain abdominal radiographs.
