  • Gastrinomas secrete gastrin and cause symptoms related to gastric acid hypersecretion that can be controlled by antisecretory medications. Primary tumors are located within the pancreas or duodenum and 60% metastasize. Liver metastases are associated with decreased survival. Localization studies especially somatostatin receptor scintigraphy are indicated to image the extent of disease.
