Gastric content's mass and pH commonly assessed invasively using endoscopic biopsy, or semi-invasively using swallowable transducer. EGG (electrogastrography) is a technique for observing gastric myoelectrical activity non-invasively, that could be designed as mobile device. In this research, 72 EGG recordings were obtained from 13 local white rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus). Recorded EGG processed using SCILAB 5.5.1 package. Signal processing consists of waveform identification altogether with…

Electrogastrography in the dog: waveform analysis by a coherent averaging technique
Electrogastrograms recorded cutaneously in the dog were subjected to waveform analysis by coherent (or ‘triggered’) averaging techniques, and it was concluded that, depending on the position of the abdominal electrodes, e.g. waveforms are related to either corporal or antral regions, or to both regions simultaneously.
Electrogastrography: Methodology, Validation and Applications
Findings reported in the literature demonstrating the accuracy of EGG in recording gastric slow waves and gastric dysrhythmia are reviewed and discussed and the correlation of the electrogastrogram with gastric contraction is carefully discussed.
Single Channel Cutaneous Electrogastrography on Local White Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and Its Electrogastrogram Classification Algorithm
The assembly of EGG instrument, its performance testing, and its usage on local white rabbit gives an insight of an EGG recording method that could be applied on another preclinical, veterinary, and even for clinical examination.
Electrogastrography: a document prepared by the gastric section of the American Motility Society Clinical GI Motility Testing Task Force
No therapies have convincingly demonstrated in controlled studies that correcting abnormalities detected by EGG improves upper gastrointestinal symptoms, and proposed clinical indications for performance of EGG in patients with unexplained nausea, vomiting and dyspeptic symptoms must be validated by prospective controlled investigations.
Electrogastrography: current issues in validation and methodology.
The authors conclude the following: the 3 cpm frequency of the EGG reflects the frequency of pacesetter potentials occurring at the serosal and mucosal surfaces of the stomach.
It is hard for a moment to realize that our knowledge as regards gastric physiology is today in much the same stage as it was as regards cardiac physiology back in the early seventies, before the
The interstitial cells of Cajal and a gastroenteric pacemaker system.
A knowledge of the structure and function of the ICC and the pacemaker system provides a basis for clarifying the normal mechanism and the pathophysiology of motility in the digestive tract.
Mathematical Foundations and Biomechanics of the Digestive System
This book presents a Continuum model of the biological tissue, a nonlinear theory of thin shells, and a Parameterization of shells of complex geometry for biological applications of mathematical modeling.
