Abstract The main metabolite of diftalone in humans is 7-hydroxydiftalone, which is present in urine as the β-glucuronide. Its determination is based on acid hydrolysis in the biological fluit itself to an isomeric carboxylicacid, extraction with ethyl acetate, esterification with diazomethane to the methyl ester and gas—liquid chromatographic analysis of this ester.
