The distribution of galanin-like immunoreactive perikarya and nerve fibers in the brain of the snake Bothrops jararaca was studied by means of immunohistochemistry using an antiserum against porcine galanin. Immunoreactive neurons were only detected in the infundibular recess nucleus. Immunoreactive fibers were found in the telencephalic, diencephalic and mesencephalic areas such as the dorsal cortex, nucleus accumbens, lamina terminalis, preoptic area, mediodorsal region of the supraoptic… CONTINUE READING
