Many research have been accomplished in assessing software process in small enterprises; in this paper we introduce our experience in conducting SPI initiatives with very small enterprises VSE using the OWPL assessment method. Interventions to these enterprises have been made to help them improving their software processes. The lessons learned by applying the micro-evaluation approach have been discussed at the end of the intervention process. In this intervention we have assessed four…
The Route to Software Process Improvement in Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises
TLDR
This chapter proposes an approach to integrate software process practices based on the results of a study carried out in small software companies on what small organizations could actually do, more than on what they are currently practicing.

An ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7 Working Group has been established to address the difficulties of very small development organizations by producing a software engineering standard tailored to VSE.
Critical success factors for software process improvement implementation: an empirical study
TLDR
Findings from the recent empirical study of the critical success factors for software process improvement (SPI) implementation are presented to provide SPI practitioners with sufficient knowledge about the nature of issues that play a positive role in the implementation of SPI programmes in order to assist them in effectively planning SPI implementation strategies.
