Gabapentin in the treatment of anxiety disorders

The reflection of gabapentin?s clear antianxiety activity into clinical practice needs further large scaled double blind drug trials testing its efficacy either as a monotherapy or as an adjunctive therapy.

Gabapentin. A review of its pharmacological properties and clinical potential in epilepsy.

Gabapentin provides notable benefit, reducing seizure frequency by > or = 50% in 18 to 28% of patients with refractory partial seizures, as shown in 3 double-blind, placebo-controlled trials.

Gabapentin: a Ca2+ channel alpha 2-delta ligand far beyond epilepsy therapy.

Gabapentin is one of the new first-generation AEDs that expanded its use into a broad range of neurologic and psychiatric disorders shortly after it was licensed in 1993 for use in drug-resistant partial epilepsy with or without secondary generalization.

Gabapentin: Abuse, Dependence, and Withdrawal.

There have been numerous documented cases of gabapentin abuse, dependence, and withdrawal and health care providers need to be aware of this risk in patients and monitor their patients for signs of abuse and dependence along with withdrawal symptoms.

The Impact of Gabapentin Administration on Brain GABA and Glutamate Concentrations: A 7T 1H-MRS Study

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate are implicated in numerous neuropsychiatric and substance abuse conditions, but their spectral overlap with other resonances makes them a challenge to

Mirtazapine, a Noradrenergic and Specific Serotonergic Antidepressant, Attenuates Morphine Dependence and Withdrawal in Sprague-Dawley Rats

It is demonstrated that mirtazapine attenuates morphine withdrawal and morphine-induced CPP in rats and it is suggested that mIRTZapine may have therapeutic potential in the treatment of opiate dependence.
