Abstract

Data derived from models of hepatic regeneration indicate that transient, recipricol changes in polyamines, potent growth promoters, and gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), an amino acid neurotransmitter with growth inhibitory properties, play important roles in enhancing and inhibiting respectively regulated hepatocyte proliferation.
