Platelet interaction with subendothelial collagen is crucial for hemostasis and thrombosis. Under conditions of elevated shear, platelet adhesion and activation on collagen requires the coordinated action of glycoprotein (GP) Ib and GPVI, which may be physically and functionally linked in the platelet membrane.
