Tamoxifen resistance is a major clinical challenge in breast cancer treatment. Our previous studies find that GPER and its down-stream signaling play a pivotal role in the development of tamoxifen (TAM) resistance. cDNA array analysis indicated a set of genes associated with cell apoptosis are aberrant in GPER activated and TAM-resistant MCF-7R cells compared with TAM-sensitive MCF-7 cells. Among these genes, Bim (also named BCL2-L11), a member of the BH3-only pro-apoptotic protein family is… Expand
GPER mediates decreased chemosensitivity via regulation of ABCG2 expression and localization in tamoxifen-resistant breast cancer cells
TLDR
This work is the first to show that the expression levels of GPER and ABCG2 are markedly increased in tamoxifen-resistant ER + metastases compared to the corresponding primary tumors, and provides a rationale for the GPER/ABCG2 signaling axis being a promising target for reversing chemoresistance in patients with advanced ER-+ tamoxifan-resistant breast cancer. IGFBP-1 Expression Promotes Tamoxifen Resistance in Breast Cancer Cells via Erk Pathway Activation
TLDR
Data support the conclusion that IGFBP-1 is a key component of the development of tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer cells. Expand
Overexpression miR‐24‐3p repressed Bim expression to confer tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer
TLDR
This study highlighted the pivotal role of miR‐24‐3p overexpression in mediating the development of tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer and suggested miR-24-3p might be a predictor or target for patients with breast cancer. Expand
Oncogenic function of TRIM2 in pancreatic cancer by activating ROS-related NRF2/ITGB7/FAK axis
TLDR
Evidence is provided that upregulated TRIM2 in pancreatic cancer predicts short survival for Pancreatic cancer patients and accelerates pancreatic cancers progression via the ROS-related NRF2/ITGB7/FAK axis. Expand
TRIM2 downregulation in clear cell renal cell carcinoma affects cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and predicts poor patients’ survival
TLDR
TRIM2 acted as an antitumor gene and a specifi prognostic indicator for patients with ccRCC, which indicated that positive modulation of TRIM2 might be a novel treatment strategy forccRCC. Expand
Zinc finger protein 32 promotes breast cancer stem cell-like properties through directly promoting GPER transcription
TLDR
It is concluded that ZNF32 can engage GPER/ERK signalling and confer breast cancer stem cell-like properties, which may indicate poor prognosis of breast cancer patients. Expand
G-Protein-Coupled Estrogen Receptor 1 Promotes Gender Disparities in Hepatocellular Carcinoma via Modulation of SIN1 and mTOR Complex 2 Activity
TLDR
The modulation of Sin1 and how estrogen signaling may influence the mTORC2–AKT cascade in HCC cells and a DEN-induced mouse model is investigated and it is demonstrated that Sin1 can be regulated by GPER1 both through nongenomic and indirect genomic signaling. Expand
MicroRNA-195 inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition by targeting G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 in endometrial carcinoma
TLDR
The findings of this study indicate that the inhibitory effects of miR195 on EC cell migration and invasion are associated with the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and GPER expression. Expand
Progress in the Understanding of the Mechanism of Tamoxifen Resistance in Breast Cancer
TLDR
The mechanism of tamoxifen resistance, protective autophagy, cell cycle regulators, and some transcription factors and enzymes regulating the expression of the estrogen receptor are summarized in this review. Expand
GPER-Induced ERK Signaling Decreases Cell Viability of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
TLDR
The findings suggest that specific activation of the GPER/ERK axis may serve as a novel tumor-suppressive mechanism and that this axis could be a therapeutic target for HCC. Expand

GPER mediates enhanced cell viability and motility via non-genomic signaling induced by 17β-estradiol in triple-negative breast cancer cells
TLDR
Investigation of the effects of blocking non-genomic signaling mediated by the estrogen/GPER pathway on cell viability and motility in the TNBC cells suggests that inhibition of estrogen/ GPER/ERK signaling represents a novel targeted therapy in TNBC. Expand
Acquisition of epithelial-mesenchymal transition phenotype in the tamoxifen-resistant breast cancer cell: a new role for G protein-coupled estrogen receptor in mediating tamoxifen resistance through cancer-associated fibroblast-derived fibronectin and β1-integrin signaling pathway in tumor cells
TLDR
Interestingly, silencing of β1-integrin partially rescued the sensitivity of MCF-7R cells to tamoxifen and the α5β1-Integrin subunit is probably responsible for this phenomenon. Expand
Role of GPR30 in the mechanisms of tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer MCF-7 cells
TLDR
Data suggests the important role of GPR30/EGFR receptor signaling in the development of tamoxifen resistance and the inhibition of this pathway is a valid option to improve anti-hormone response in breast cancer. Expand
GPR30 as an initiator of tamoxifen resistance in hormone-dependent breast cancer
TLDR
Long-term endocrine treatment facilitates the translocation of GPR30 to cell surfaces, which interferes with the EGFR signaling pathway and also attenuates the inhibition of MAP kinases, which contribute to tamoxifen resistance development in breast cancer. Expand
PTK6 inhibition promotes apoptosis of Lapatinib-resistant Her2+ breast cancer cells by inducing Bim
TLDR
PTK6 downregulation induces apoptosis of Lapatinib-resistant Her2+ breast cancer cells by enhancing Bim expression via p38 activation, and may offer a therapeutic approach to treating patients with Her2 targeted therapy-resistant breast cancers. Expand
Pro-apoptotic Bim suppresses breast tumor cell metastasis and is a target gene of SNAI2
TLDR
It is suggested that SNAI2-driven BIM–induced apoptosis may temper metastasis by governing the survival of disseminating breast tumor cells. Expand
Reprogramming of the ERRα and ERα target gene landscape triggers tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer.
TLDR
The results suggest that ERα and ERRα cooperate to promote endocrine resistance, and they provide a rationale for the exploration of ERR α as a candidate drug target to treat endocrine-resistant breast cancer. Expand
Tamoxifen resistance in MCF7 cells promotes EMT‐like behaviour and involves modulation of β‐catenin phosphorylation
TLDR
Results suggest that homotypic adhesion in tamoxifen‐resistant breast cancer cells is dysfunctional due to EGFR‐driven modulation of the phosphorylation status of β‐catenin and may contribute to an enhanced aggressive phenotype and transition towards a mesenchymal phenotype in vitro. Expand
Re-expression of microRNA-375 reverses both tamoxifen resistance and accompanying EMT-like properties in breast cancer
TLDR
An inverse correlation between the expression of miR-375 and its target MTDH in primary breast cancer samples is observed, implying the pathological relevance of targeting and tamoxifen-treated patients with higher expression of MTDH had a shorter disease-free survival and higher risk of relapse.
