The concept of a fuzzy set was introduced by Zadeh [ll]. Several other authors have applied fuzzy sets to various branches of mathematics. In this paper we apply the concept of a fuzzy set to the elementary theory of vector spaces and topological vector spaces. Our notation and terminology for fuzzy sets follows that of [ll]. For the definitions of fuzzy topological spaces, product and quotient spaces we follow Wong [9, lo] and Chang [2].
