The work presented in this paper is taken from a wider program to examine the effects of the engine control strategy on the emissions, fuel consumption and driveability of a high speed direct injection diesel engine. The overall object is to access the potential for emissions and fuel consumption reductions during transient events whilst maintaining and even improving driveability.
