This paper presents a new method for 3D position and orientation estimation based on the magnetic field generated by a single coil and the fusion of low power magnetometers and inertial sensors. The fixed spatial relationship between the sensors is exploited to solve the ambiguity problem that occurs when only a single coil is employed.
