Summary In a previous experiment a chimpanzee was trained to select the middle of 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 objects when the objects were 1·25 in. diameter pipe plugs and were placed adjacent to one another on a WGTA. In the present study, retention for the previous task was tested and then the subject was trained to select the middle object of 5, 7, 9 and 11 stimulus objects when they were asymmetrically arranged and were separated by from 1 to 6 stimulus positions.
