Abstract Observations are made on a simple method of staining malarial parasites in thick blood films which: 1. ( a ) Does not require prolonged drying of the blood. 2. ( b ) Produces the Romanowsky effect in a total staining time of less than 10 seconds. 3. ( c ) Is tri-chromatic with sharp colour contrasts between parasites and the ground of laked red cells on which they lie. 4. ( d ) Damages leucocytes and blood protozoa less than do the standard methods of Giemsa staining.
