Measurements of water permeability indicate the existence of a facilitated water transporting pathway in erythrocytes, kidney tubules and amphibian urinary bladder. Two lines of evidence suggest that one type of water channel is an approximately 30-kDa protein: the approximately 30-kDa target size determined by radiation inactivation (van Hoek, A. N., Hom, M.
