Opinion is divided on whether there is a place for the use of semi-adjustable dental articulators in orthodontics. In this review we explore the validity and reproducibility of the techniques involved in mounting study models on a semi-adjustable dental articulator. We also look at the role of articulated study models in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning, in the finishing stages of orthodontics and in planning for orthognathic surgery. We report that each of the many stages involved…
Presurgical Orthodontic Planning: Predictability
TLDR
An experimental protocol to optimize presurgical orthodontic planning by the study of linear and rotational discrepancies of skeletal structures and the use of an occlusal splint is described.
Impr cast
The clinical procedure described provides a quantifiable, repeatable, and reliable method of transferring the location of the maxillary dental arch from the patient directly to a virtual articulator
Improved digital transfer of the maxillary cast to a virtual articulator.
Orthodontic management of a case with skeletal Class III malocclusion
TLDR
This article presents a nonsurgical extraction approach to Class III malocclusion treatment which can significantly improve the occlusal and facial discrepancies.
Determining the occlusal plane: a literature review.
TLDR
The utility of articulator systems and link instrumentation in determining the occlusal plane was demonstrated, with or without the use of face-bows, to demonstrate the utility of real or virtual solutions.
Rehabilitation of occlusion - science or art?
TLDR
Overall, there is no scientific evidence that supports any specific occlusal scheme being superior to others in terms of improving stomatognathic function, nor that sophisticated methods are superior to simpler ones in Terms of clinical outcomes.
Non-surgical Treatment of Class III Malocclusion in adults: Two case reports
TLDR
The purpose of this report is to review the orthodontic treatment of two patients with a Class III malocclusion who were treated non-surgically.
Accuracy of Cast Articulation: A Literature Review
TLDR
The quality of cast articulation could be improved by developing a new approach that eliminates several steps necessary with conventional procedures for mounting casts in an articulator.
Treatment of Young People with Dental, Jaw and Face Deformation as a Challenge for Their Psycho-Social Rehabilitation
TLDR
The research has shown that all the results of the dental-orthodontic treatment provoke a better further rehabilitation from the social and psychological aspect.

Functional occlusal relationships in a group of post-orthodontic patients: preliminary findings.
TLDR
The results revealed that the majority of subjects had a unilateral contact on initial closure in the retruded axis position, and a slide between this position and the intercuspal position, which may be associated with post-orthodontic instability, tooth wear and temporomandibular disorders.
Reproducibility of occlusal contacts relative to mounting cast variables.
TLDR
One of the three mounting stones was statistically significantly less accurate in reproducing occlusal contacts when a distance of 19 mm existed between the cast and the articulator, regardless of the existance of articulator restriction.

Results indicate no significant deleterious influence on the status of the periodontium by occlusal disharmonies.
