FtsH is a membrane-bound ATP-dependent zinc-metalloprotease which proteolytically regulates the levels of specific membrane and cytoplasmic proteins that participate in diverse cellular functions, and which therefore might be of critical importance to a human pathogen such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
