From the Heisenberg Picture to Bohm: a New Perspective on Active Information and its relation to Shannon Information.

In this paper we discuss some of the background to the notion of active information introduced by Bohm and Hiley to account for quantum processes. To appreciate the full significance of this new notion, we show why it is essential to distinguish our approach from the approach that goes under the name 'Bohmian mechanics'. We then show for the first time how the quantum potential emerges from the Heisenberg picture thus providing a new perspective to the whole approach. This enables us to clarify… Expand
Effective Physical Processes and Active Information in Quantum Computing
The recent debate on hypercomputation has raised new questions both on the computational abilities of quantum systems and the Church-Turing Thesis role in Physics We propose here the idea ofExpand
INFORMATION AS ENVIRONMENT CHANGINGS CLASSICAL AND QUANTUM MORPHIC COMPUTATION
The recent debate on hyper-computation has raised new questions both on the computational abilities of quantum systems and the Church-Turing Thesis role in Physics. We propose here the idea ofExpand
Non-Commutative Quantum Geometry: A Reappraisal of the Bohm Approach to Quantum Theory
In this paper we trace the mathematical origins of the wave and particle aspects of quantum phenomena to the symplectic symmetry, Sp(2n). This symmetry is shared by both classical mechanics andExpand

TLDR
This paper examines three core features of Bohm’s metaphysical views, which have been both supported by features of quantum mechanics and integrated into a comprehensive system. Expand
How can one find nonlocality in Bohmian mechanics
We perform the probabilistic analysis of the pilot wave formalism. From the probabilistic point of view it is not so natural to follow D. Bohm and to consider nonlocal interactions between parts ofExpand
Imprints of the Quantum World in Classical Mechanics
The imprints left by quantum mechanics in classical (Hamiltonian) mechanics are much more numerous than is usually believed. We show that the Schrödinger equation for a nonrelativistic spinlessExpand
Bohmian Trajectories and the Path Integral Paradigm: complexified Lagrangian mechanics
David Bohm had shown that the Schrodinger equation, that is a "visiting card" of quantum mechanics, can be decomposed onto two equations for real functions — action and probability density. The firstExpand
Why isn't every physicist a Bohmian?
This note collects, classifies and evaluates common criticism against the de Broglie Bohm theory, including Ockham's razor, asymmetry in the de Broglie Bohm theory, the ``surreal trajectory''Expand
Understanding quantum mechanics: a review and synthesis in precise language
TLDR
This review is broad in scope, and aims to reflect enough of the literature to be representative of the current state of the subject, and to contribute to achieving greater consensus on how to understand quantum mechanics. Expand
Formal Treatment of Systems with a Hidden Organizing Structure, with Possible Applications to Physics
It is the purpose of this paper to study the concept of an “organizing structure”. In the beginning, dynamic systems with a specific substructure are analysed, such that long term modifications ofExpand

On the intuitive understanding of nonlocality as implied by quantum theory
We bring out the fact that the essential new quality implied by the quantum theory is nonlocality; i.e., that a system cannot be analyzed into parts whose basic properties do not depend on the stateExpand
Non-commutative Geometry, the Bohm Interpretation and the Mind-Matter Relationship * .
It is argued that in order to address the mind/matter relationship, we will have to radically change the conceptual structure normally assumed in physics. Rather than fields and/orExpand
Bohmian mechanics as the foundation of quantum mechanics
In order to arrive at Bohmian mechanics from standard nonrelativistic quantum mechanics one need do almost nothing! One need only complete the usual quantum description in what is really the mostExpand
Quantum State Teleportation Understood Through the Bohm Interpretation
Quantum state teleportation has focused attention on the role of quantum information. Here we examine quantum teleportation through the Bohm interpretation. This interpretation introduced the notionExpand
Quantum equilibrium and the origin of absolute uncertainty
The quantum formalism is a “measurement” formalism-a phenomenological formalism describing certain macroscopic regularities. We argue that it can be regarded, and best be understood, as arising fromExpand
Active Information and Teleportation
In this paper I want to examine quantum teleportation (Bennett et al. 1993, Bouwmeester et al. 1997) from a point of view that is different from that normally considered. This will enable us to gainExpand
ABOUT POSITION MEASUREMENTS WHICH DO NOT SHOW THE BOHMIAN PARTICLE POSITION
This work is inspired by our discussions with David Bohm in different periods in Tel-Aviv, London, and South Carolina. We were excited by the results we obtained in the framework of two-state vectorExpand
Quantum trajectories, real, surreal or an approximation to a deeper process?
The proposal that the one-parameter solutions of the real part of the Schrodinger equation (quantum Hamilton-Jacobi equation) can be regarded as `quantum particle trajectories' has receivedExpand
Local and Global Properties of the World
The essence of the method of physics is inseparably connected with the problem of interplay between local and global properties of the universe. In the present paper we discuss this interplay as itExpand
A SUGGESTED INTERPRETATION OF THE QUANTUM THEORY IN TERMS OF "HIDDEN" VARIABLES. II
In this paper, we shall show how the theory of measurements is to be understood from the point of view of a physical interpretation of the quantum theory in terms of hidden variables developed in aExpand
