We demonstrate an extremely efficient chemical vapour deposition synthesis of single-walled carbon nanotubes where the activity and lifetime of the catalysts are enhanced by controlling the ambient of the CVD furnace, a growth mode we call "Super Growth" [1]. The enhanced catalytic activity of super growth results in massive growth of super-dense and vertically-aligned single-walled nanotubes forests with heights up to 2.5 millimeters. In addition, these SWNT forests were easily separated from…

Synthesis of carbon nanotubes and nanotube forests on copper catalyst

The growth of carbon nanotubes on bulk copper is studied. We show for the first time, that super growth chemical vapor deposition method can be successfully applied for preparation of nanotubes on

Nanotechnology-Based System for Damage-Resistant Concrete Pavements

This report's focus was to explore the use of nanotechnology-based nanofilaments, such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and nanofibers (CNFs), as reinforcement for improving the mechanical properties of

THE EFFECT OF DISTURBANCES ON SPACE ELEVATOR DYNAMICS WITH FLEXIBILITY

A space elevator has been offered an alternate method for space transportation. With the discovery of carbon nanotube that has the strength-to-mass ratio required for the system, the construction of

Comparison of Space Propulsion Methods for a Manned Mission to Mars

TLDR
It is concluded that the ion engine technology, combined with the classical chemical engine, is the one which yields the shortest mission times with the lowest mass, and that chemical propulsion alone is the best to minimise travel time.
