UML activity diagrams can be used to model business processes which are implemented in a software project. It is a worthwhile goal to automatically transform at least parts of UML diagrams into software. Automated code generation reduces the total amount of errors in a software project but the model itself can still violate specified requirements. A quality improvement is the usage of a model checker which searches through the whole state space of model and checks whether all requirements are…

VERIFICATION OF WEB APPLICATIONS WITH A MODEL CHECKER
TLDR
This paper solves the problem with the usage of model-driven development and presents a domain-specific web application modelling language Promela, which is used by the Spin model checker which tests automatically whether the corresponding web application model meets the given specification and therefore increases software stability and security.

Model Checking and Code Generation for UML State Machines and Collaborations
TLDR
This work describes an ongoing project to develop a set of tools, tentatively called HUGO, where model checking technology is applied to relate UML state machines and interaction diagrams, and proposes to generate code directly from the UML model.
Automatic Verification of a Behavioural Subset of UML Statechart Diagrams Using the SPIN Model-checker
TLDR
This paper presents a translation from a subset of UML Statechart Diagrams into PROMELA, the specification language of the SPIN model checker, the most advanced analysis and verification tools available nowadays.
The Semantics of UML State Machines
TLDR
A complete formalisation of UML state machine semantics is given in terms of an operational semantics and it can be used as the basis for code generation, simulation and verification tools for UML Statecharts diagrams.
Towards a Formal Operational Semantics of UML Statechart Diagrams
TLDR
This paper sets the basis for the development of a formal semantics for U ML Statechart Diagrams based on Kripke structures and proves a number of properties of such semantics which reflect the design choices of UML Statechart diagrams.
Model Checking
TLDR
Model checking is applied concurrently with system design, and particularly in its early stages when systems are modelled at a high level of abstraction, because the payoff of finding bugs at that stage is highest whereas the costs are low.
From BPMN Process Models to BPEL Web Services
TLDR
This paper proposes a technique that overcomes limitations in existing methods for mapping BPMN to BPEL and addresses difficult problems that arise generally when translating between flow-based languages with parallelism.
From business process models to process-oriented software systems
TLDR
This article proposes a translation technique that does not impose structural restrictions on the source BPMN model and emphasizes the generation of readable (block-structured) BPEL code.
The Rhapsody UML Verification Environment
TLDR
How UML models are transformed into a format usable for the VIS model checker is discussed, the specification and verification on a simple example are shown, and how the tool can be used to help determining the memory resources of a model is explained.
Progress on the State Explosion Problem in Model Checking
TLDR
This aim of this paper is to give a succinct survey of symbolic model checking and to introduce the reader to recent advances in abstraction.
Semantics of UML State Machines
TLDR
The abstract syntax and semantics of a simplified subclass of U ML state machines is defined and the main concepts of UML state machines are illustrated by a simple UML model of an automatic teller machine (ATM).
