Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous, complex genetic disorder characterized by hyperandrogenemia, hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance, and chronic anovulation. It is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age with an enigmatic pathophysiologic and molecular basis.
