Frequencies of Feet Feathering and Comb Type Genes in the

title={Frequencies of Feet Feathering and Comb Type Genes in the},
  author={N. Chicken},
Incidence of feet feathering condition, different comb types and the relative frequencies of the genes affecting these conditions were studied in 2030 local chickens. 14.78% of the local chicken surveyed had feathered feet, while 85.22% had non-feathered feet. The single comb type was the commonest of the comb type observed in the chickens surveyed. 94.73% of the chickens had single comb, while 3.20% and 2.07% had rose and pea combs respectively. The estimated gene frequency for fsh allele… Expand

Variations in qualitative traits in the Nigerian local chicken.
The population of Nigerian local chicken studied showed heterogeneity in the phenotypic traits considered and therefore present a genetic pool from which selection could be made. Expand
Phenotypic characterization of the indigenous chickens (Gallus gallus) in the northwest of Algeria
The results indicated that the predominant comb colour was dark red, followed by light red, and local chickens in the northwest of Algeria based on some phenotypic traits and at prediction of body weight from morphometric measurements (linear body). Expand
Comparison and Prediction of Morphological Characteristics of Frizzled Frizzled Feather and Naked Neck Chicken in Derived Savannah zone
Effect of major genes on morphological characteristics of indigenous chickens in derived savannah zone was studied. The two major genes were adult frizzled feathered and naked neck chickens. TheExpand
Phenotypic Characterization of Local Chickens ( Gallus Gallus Domesticus ) In Bekwarra Cross River State , Nigeria
This study was conducted in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria, to identify and determine some characteristics of local chickens. A total of 530 adult chickens of both sexesExpand
Characterization of local chicken populations (Gallus gallus) in Cameroon
Results showed that in the rural area, local chickens represent about 69.4% of kept species and are catered mostly by women in 57% of cases, and a genetic improvement programme using a foundation stock of local chicken ecotypes is proposed, coupled with a short-term crossbreeding protocol involving commercial labels. Caractérisation phénotypique des populations de poules locales (Gallus Gallus) de la zone forestière dense humide à pluviométrie bimodale du Cameroun
Summary Phenotypic characterisation of local chicken populations was undertaken in the humid forest zone. Out of 48 village’s subsets sampled by Zonal Extension Agents (AVZ) in the 16 divisions ofExpand
Characterization of local chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus) in Shelleng and Song Local Government Areas of Adamawa State, Nigeria
Generally, the local chickens in the study area were mostly black and mottled with dark brown eyes and pink shanks, and mostly lay light brown eggs, which provide the basis for which they could be classified into breeds. Expand
Use of discriminant analysis for the evaluation of coccidiosis resistance parameters in chickens raised in hot humid tropical environment
Routine blood test and estimates of body weight gain could serve as a useful tool for identifying chickens that may be at risk of coccidiosis, enabling improvement of preventive measures. Expand

Association of dominant marker traits and metric traits in chickens.
None of the marker traits had a significant association with egg numbers or egg weight. Expand
Statistical Analysis of Factors Which Make for Success in Initial Encounters between Hens
Initial encounters lie at the basis of the social order in flocks of chickens, as is known to be the case with a number of other vertebrates. To gain some insight into the factors which decide theExpand
Introduction to quantitative genetics
For the next few weeks the course is going to be exploring a field that’s actually older than classical population genetics, although the approach it’ll be taking to it involves the use of population genetic machinery. Expand
