Free Yang-Mills vs. Toric Sasaki-Einstein

It has been known that the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of the black hole in AdS 5 × S 5 agrees with the free N = 4 super Yang-Mills entropy up to the famous factor 43 . This factor can be interpreted as the ratio of the entropy of the free Yang-Mills to the entropy of the strongly coupled Yang-Mills. In this paper we compute an analogous factor for infinitely many N = 1 SCFTs which are dual to toric Sasaki-Einstein manifolds. We observed that this ratio always takes values within a narrow range…

Phase Transitions of Charged Kerr-AdS Black Holes from Large-N Gauge Theories

We study N = 4 super Yang-Mills theories on a three-sphere with two types of chemical potential. One is associated with the R-symmetry and the other with the rotational symmetry of S 3 (SO(4)

Eschenburg space as gravity dual of flavored = 4 Chern-Simons-matter theory

We find a 3D flavored = 4 Chern-Simons-matter theory, a kind of = 3 SCFT, has a gravity dual AdS4 × 7(t1, t2, t3) where three coprime parameters can be read off according to the number and charge of

Holographic entanglement entropy: an overview

In this paper, we review recent progress on the holographic understanding of the entanglement entropy in the anti-de Sitter space/conformal field theory (AdS/CFT) correspondence. In general, the

Geometric entropy and hagedorn/deconfinement transition

The geometric entropy is introduced and it is manifestly shown that its value becomes discontinuous at the Hagedorn temperature both in the free = 4 super Yang-Mills and in its supergravity dual.

Gauge/String Duality, Hot QCD and Heavy Ion Collisions: A heavy ion phenomenology primer

Over the last decade, both experimental and theoretical advances have brought the need for strong coupling techniques in the analysis of deconfined QCD matter and heavy ion collisions to the

Dual giant gravitons in AdSm × Yn (Sasaki-Einstein)

We consider BPS motion of dual giant gravitons on AdS5 × Y5 where Y5 represents a five-dimensional Sasaki-Einstein manifold. We find that the phase space for the BPS dual giant gravitons is

An Infinite Family of Superconformal Quiver Gauge Theories with Sasaki-Einstein Duals

We describe an infinite family of quiver gauge theories that are AdS/CFT dual to a corresponding class of explicit horizon Sasaki-Einstein manifolds. The quivers may be obtained from a family of

Deformations of conformal theories and non-toric quiver gauge theories

We discuss several examples of non-toric quiver gauge theories dual to Sasaki-Einstein manifolds with U(1)2 or U(1) isometry. We give a general method for constructing non-toric examples by adding

The correspondence between supergravity (and string theory) on AdS space and boundary conformal field theory relates the thermodynamics of super-Yang–Mills theory in four dimensions to the

Entropy and temperature of black 3-branes.

We consider slightly nonextremal black 3-branes of type IIB supergravity and show that their Bekenstein-Hawking entropy agrees, up to a mysterious factor, with an entropy derived by counting non-BPS

The Dual superconformal theory for L**pqr manifolds

We present the superconformal gauge theory living on the world-volume of D3 branes probing the toric singularities with horizon the recently discovered Sasaki-Einstein manifolds Lp,q,r. Various

From Sasaki-Einstein spaces to quivers via BPS geodesics: Lp,q|r

The AdS/CFT correspondence between Sasaki-Einstein spaces and quiver gauge theories is studied from the perspective of massless BPS geodesics. The recently constructed toric Lp,q|r geometries are

The Geometric Dual of a–Maximisation for Toric Sasaki–Einstein Manifolds

AbstractWe show that the Reeb vector, and hence in particular the volume, of a Sasaki–Einstein metric on the base of a toric Calabi–Yau cone of complex dimension n may be computed by minimising a

From toric geometry to quiver gauge theory: The equivalence of a‐maximization and Z‐minimization

AdS/CFT predicts a precise relation between the central charge a, the scaling dimensions of some operators in the CFT on D3‐branes at conical singularities and the volumes of the horizon and of

AdS bubbles, entropy and closed string tachyons

We study the conjectured connection between AdS bubbles (AdS solitons) and closed string tachyon condensations. We confirm that the entanglement entropy, which measures the degree of freedom,
