Whether homosexual pedophiles have more older brothers (a higher fraternal birth order) than do heterosexual pedophiles was investigated. Subjects were 260 sex offenders (against children age 14 or younger) and 260 matched volunteer controls. The subject's relative attraction to male and female children was assessed by phallometric testing in one analysis, and by his offense history in another. Both methods showed that fraternal birth order correlates with homosexuality in pedophiles, just as…

Meta-Analyses of Fraternal and Sororal Birth Order Effects in Homosexual Pedophiles, Hebephiles, and Teleiophiles.
- PsychologyArchives of sexual behavior
- 2020
The finding for older sisters confirms a prediction stemming from the hypothesis that male fetuses stimulate maternal antibodies that increase the odds of homosexuality in later-born males and indicates some commonality in the factors that influence sexual preference in teleiophiles and those that influenceSexual preference in pedohebephiles.

Fraternal Birth Order and the Maternal Immune Hypothesis of Male Homosexuality
- BiologyHormones and Behavior
- 2001
The maternal immune hypothesis is consistent with a variety of evidence, including the apparent irrelevance of older sisters to the sexual orientation of later born males, the probable involvement of H-Y antigen in the development of sex-typical traits, and the detrimental effects of immunization of female mice to H-y antigen on the reproductive performance of subsequent male offspring.
Birth Order in Sex-Offending and Aggressive-Offending Men

The fraternal birth order effect is the tendency for older brothers to increase the odds of homosexuality in later-born males and in homosexual subjects with masculine versus feminine gender identities is compared and evidence for the reliability of the effect was consistent.
Fraternal Birth Order and the Maternal Immune
- Biology
- 2001
It has been hypothesized that this fraternal birth order effect reflects the progressive immunization of some mothers to Y-linked minor histocompatibility antigens by each succeeding male fetus and the concomitantly increasing effects of such maternal immunization on the future sexual orientation of each succeedingmale fetus.
