Frankincense, gold, and myrrh were the three gifts from the wise men (the Magi, or the three kings) brought from the East to celebrate the birth of baby Jesus Christ (Bible, Matthew 2:11) According to the Christian belief (Botros et.al. 2003). Nine compounds with immunostimulant and antiviral activity were isolated from the oleogum resin of frankincense (Boswellia carterii Birdwood). The frankincense essential oil (3%) found to contain monoterpenes (13.1 %), sesquiterpenes (1 %), and diterpenes…

'Boswellia serrata' resin isolates: Chemical composition and pharmacological activities
TLDR
In vitro studies and numerous clinical trials have shown promising beneficial effects in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease and asthma, as well as in the reduction of peritumoral edema.
Evaluate the cytotoxic activity of honey, propolis, and bee venom from different localities in Egypt against liver, breast, and colorectal cancer
TLDR
Honey bee products therapy, apitherapy, was used to control various diseases including cancer, and Italian dissected method-bee venom was the most active among all the tested samples against Hep-G2, Caco-2 and MCF-7, but Libyan propolis proved to be mostactive among all tested propolis samples.
In vitro Effects of the Methanolic Leaf Extract of Otholobium fruticans in Murine B16 Melanoma Cells: Implications for the Treatment of Skin Hyperpigmentation
TLDR
Findings tend to suggest that the depigmentation potential of the methanolic extract of O. fruticans could be mediated through an interplay of mechanisms that inhibit tyrosinase activity and the cAMP-dependent pathway, as well as increased iROS levels.
Antifibrotic Activity of Saussurea lappa Root Extract on CCl4-induced Liver Fibrosis in Rats
TLDR
Two new approaches have been developed to improve solubility, permeability and bioavailability of natural products based on natural products' screening.
55. Frankincense and Myrrh – imperilled divine symbols of religion’s duty to conserve biodiversity
Frankincense and myrrh (Figure 1) are aromatic resins that have had spiritual significance since ancient times. Like so many other species, the scrubby trees and shrubs in Northeast Africa and the
„Azon orvosságok kezdete, melyeket a májra adnak”
TLDR
The anti-inflammatory drug NSAID (nonsteroidal anti- inflammation drug) nem szteroid gyulladáscsökkentő gylladékkromatográfia/tömegspektrometria fordított fázisú folyadÉkkrom atogránfia.
Potentials of Medicinal Plants with Antiviral Properties: The Need for a Paradigm Shift in Developing Novel Antivirals Against COVID-19
TLDR
There is the need for concerted paradigm shift to natural products of plant origin towards developing novel antiviral agents against COVID-19 especially with the reported safety challenge of adverse events and serious adverse events associated with already developed vaccines and pills.

Chemistry and Immunomodulatory Activity of Frankincense Oil
TLDR
The chemical profile of the oil is considered as a chemotaxonomical marker that confirmed the botanical and geographical source of the resin.
Acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid, a constituent of a herbal medicine from Boswellia serrata resin, attenuates experimental ileitis
TLDR
Oral therapy with the Boswellia extract or AKBA significantly reduces macroscopic and microcirculatory inflammatory features normally associated with indomethacin administration, indicating that the anti-inflammatory actions of the Bos Wellia extract in IBD may be due in part to boswellic acids such as AKBA.
Inhibition by boswellic acids of human leukocyte elastase.
TLDR
The data show that the dual inhibition of 5-lipoxygenase and HLE is unique to boswellic acids, and might be the rationale for the putative antiphlogistic activity of acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid and derivatives.
Effects of Boswellia serrata gum resin in patients with ulcerative colitis.
TLDR
In patients suffering from ulcerative colitis grade II and III the effect of Boswellia serrata gum resin preparation (350 mg thrice daily for 6 weeks) on stool properties, histolopathology and scan microscopy of rectal biopsies, blood parameters including Hb, serum iron, calcium, phosphorus, proteins, total leukocytes and eosinophils was studied.
[Therapy of active Crohn disease with Boswellia serrata extract H 15].
TLDR
The study confirms that therapy with H15 is not inferior to mesalazine, which can be interpreted as evidence for the efficacy of H15 according to the state of art in the treatment of active Crohn's disease with Boswellia serrata extract.
The Essential Oils
THIS collaborative work has behind it the resources and experience of Fritzsche Brothers New York, well known as producers of essential oils. Dr. E. Guenther, a vice-president of the firm, discusses
Pharmacology of an extract of salai guggal ex-Boswellia serrata, a new non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent
TLDR
In formaldehyde and adjuvant arthritis, AESG produced prominent anti-arthritic activity but no significant effect was observed in cotton pellet-induced granuloma test and it inhibited inflammation induced increase in serum transaminase levels and leucocyte counts but lacked any analgesic or anti-pyretic effects.
Search for new plant constituents with potential antiphlogistic and antiallergic activity.
TLDR
In the search for potential antiallergic and antiasthmatic compounds, the thiosulfinates of onion were found to be active principles of the drug.
Effects of Boswellia serrata gum resin in patients with bronchial asthma: results of a double-blind, placebo-controlled, 6-week clinical study.
TLDR
The data show a definite role of gum resin of Boswellia serrata in the treatment of bronchial asthma and improvement of disease as evident by disappearance of physical symptoms and signs.
